Summary

On November 20, 2011, Michael Caruso is appointed editor-in-chief of Smithsonian magazine. Caruso replaces Carey Winfrey, who served as editor-in-chief from 2001 to 2011. He is only the fourth editor in the magazine's 41-year history. Caruso previously worked as deputy editor of The Wall Street Journal magazine, editor-in-chief of Los Angeles magazine, and Men's Journal and Details, and was a founding editor of Maximum Golf.
