Doris Holmes Blake (1892-1978), an entomologist who specialized in the study of Chrysomelidae, is seated at her desk at the Smithsonian. There are drawings of beetles on her desk. Mrs. Blake was a coleopterist who worked in the National Museum of Natural History's Department of Entomology from 1928 until 1933 and where she continued as an unpaid research associate until her death.
