Summary

Excerpt from the diary of John R. Buhler, a student of Joseph Henry, then a professor at Princeton University and later first Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, March 3, 1846. In the excerpt, Buhler describes a conversation he had with Henry at the bookstore concerning physics and metaphysics. Buhler notes his delight in conversing with Henry, and his feeling of awe when in his presence.
