Summary

Joseph Henry's review of the "Report of the Committee of Naval Affairs, to whom was Referred the Memorial of Henry Hall Sherwood Claiming to have Made New and Important Discoveries in Magnetism Generally, and More Particularly in the Magnetism of the Earth: and Representing that he is the Inventor of an Instrument Called the Geometer." In the review, Henry, a professor at Princeton University, criticizes the United States Senate's Committee on Naval Affairs for praising the work of Sherwood, a physician who also studied magnetism. Henry, who studied magnetism, provided arguments disproving some of Sherwood's theories.
