Summary

Letter from Joseph Henry, first Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, to Alexander Dallas Bache, a physicist, head of the United States Coast Survey, and Smithsonian Institution Regent, October 16, 1854. In the letter, Henry discusses his return to Washington, DC, after a two week stay in Princeton, New Jersey. During his stay, he exhibited a number of experiments and delivered multiple lectures. He also discusses the ongoing construction of the Smithsonian Institution Building, or "Castle".
