Letter from Joseph Henry, first Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, to Harriet Henry, his wife, May 3, 1847. In the letter, Henry writes of a trip to Washington, DC, to meet with the Smithsonian Board of Regents. Henry was appointed Smithsonian Secretary in 1846.
