Summary

Letter from Joseph Henry, first Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, to his close friend Alexander Dallas Bache, a physicist and Smithsonian Institution Regent, September 7, 1853. In the letter, Henry describes trips to New York and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the possibility of him returning to Princeton, New Jersey, where he had been a professor before accepting the secretaryship of the Smithsonian.
