Summary

Record of experiments of Joseph Henry, then a professor at Princeton University and later first Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, May 8, 1843. In the record, Henry describes an experiment, in which he tested the transmission of "phosphorogenic emination [sic]" through different rocks and minerals and another experiment, in which he experimented with using lightning rods to magnetize needles.
