Letter from Joseph Henry, first Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, to Virginia Loyall Farragut, wife of Rear Admiral David Farragut, May 6, 1863. In the letter, Henry agrees, as Mrs. Farragut had requested, to welcome her son, Loyall Farragut, on his visit to Washington, D.C.
