Summary

Dr. Murray Gell-Mann, a theoretical physicist, was named to the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution on August 31, 1974. Gell-Mann succeeded Crawford H. Greenewalt, who resigned as a citizen member of the Board. Gell-Mann had served on the Smithsonian Council since 1969.
