Letter from eighth Smithsonian Institution Secretary S. Dillon Ripley to sixth Secretary Alexander Wetmore inquiring about the history of owls living in the towers of the Smithsonian Institution Building, or "Castle." Ripley wanted this information so that he could reinstall owls in the towers.
