Summary

Topographic sketch of the Mayan city at Copan, Honduras, done by William Henry Holmes. The sketch shows fields and a pyramid. Holmes, an artist, geologist and anthropologist, was a curator of anthropology for the Smithsonian (1897-1932) and director (1906-1932) of its National Gallery of Art, now known as the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
