Watson M. Perrygo, taxidermist and exhibits preparator in the Department of Zoology, United States National Museum (now the National Museum of Natural History), holds a camera as he kneels to take a picture on Barro Colorado Island in Panama. Throughout the 1940s and 1950s he made numerous trips to Panama to collect bird specimens with Smithsonian Secretary Alexander Wetmore.
