Summary

Two elephants shown at an unidentified (probably European) zoo. A building can be seen in the background. William L. Brown, taxidermist, and other taxidermists at the United States National Museum (USNM), now known as the National Museum of Natural History, studied live elephants at many different zoos, including the Smithsonian's own National Zoological Park (NZP), in their preparation for mounting the Fénykövi elephant skin on a model. This photo formed part of their study collection.
