Physical and Chemical Geology Exhibit at the Conference on the Future of the Smithsonian, February 11, 1927, with George P. Merrill (1854-1929), Curator, standing with his hand on the back of chair looking at the exhibit panel. There are two large pictures on the panel with the one on the right labeled: "A Falling Meteorite." In front of Merrill, laid out on a table, are different types of mineral specimens. At his back is the Vertebrate Paleontology Exhibit. The exhibits were located in the Smithsonian Institution Building or "Castle." Merrill was a geologist and head curator of the Department of Geology, United States National Museum from 1917-1929.
