Physical and Chemical Geology Exhibit at the Conference on the Future of the Smithsonian, February 11, 1927, with George P. Merrill (1854-1929), Curator, standing with his hand on the back of chair in front of the exhibit. Behind him laid out on a table are different types of mineral specimens. To his left is the Vertebrate Paleontology Exhibit. The exhibits were located in the Smithsonian Institution Building or "Castle." Merrill was a geologist and head curator of the Department of Geology, United States National Museum from 1917-1929.
