Summary

The National Zoological Park gets permission to use land at Front Royal, Virginia to set up a breeding and research farm. The site, was formerly the Beef Cattle Research Station of the United States Department of Agriculture, operated jointly with Virginia Polytechnic Institute, but cattle research was terminated in June 1973. The General Services Administration issued a temporary use permit to the SI, enabling Zoo preparations to begin.
