Summary

Crime stoppers [left to right] James Burford, Anthony Pineau, and Raymond Watson. On September 19, 1981, an ex-clerk with Smithsonian Museum shops, armed with a .25 caliber automatic pistol attempted to steal more than $2,500 from the National Museum of Natural History's shop. The thief walked in on shop employees Anthony Pineau, Mary Heiss and Thrynn Kirby and took money out of the register drawers. After he left, Pineau pushed a security button and called the security office. Lt. Raymond Watson with the assistance of Capt. James Burford apprehended the thief at the Constitution Avenue doorway.
