Summary

Pictured left to right are W. M. Perrygo, Antonio Moreno, Helmut Hils, Pantaleón Sánchez and Ospina in Puerto Vidal, Veraguas, Panama. Pantaleón Sánchez and Ospina served as Dr. Wetmore's boatmen in Panama. Perrygo was a taxidermist at the United States National Museum, and Hils was a photographer. The men were a part of Smithsonian Secretary Alexander Wetmore's ornithological expedition to Panama. The men are surrounding a boat at the river's edge. The image was taken by Wetmore on June 8, 1953.
