Photograph of Alexander Wetmore's assistant, Americo Rivera, shown with an oropendola. The image was taken by Smithsonian Secretary Alexander Wetmore on March 9, 1951, near La Campana, Panama. Wetmore was on an ornithological expedition to Panama. Along with the oropendola, Rivera also carries a rifle and is surrounded by vegetation.
