In front of a jeep in the village of Parita, Herrera, Panama, Alexander Wetmore receives an offering of barn owls from four young Panamanian boys. Wetmore is holding one of the barn owls and the boy on the far left is holding a barn owl. Alexander Wetmore, ornithologist and sixth Secretary of Smithsonian, was on an ornithological field trip to Panama.
