At the National Zoo, an exhibit of artwork by sketchers, who participated in the "Animals in Art, Sketch-ins", is being viewed by two visitors. On the wall to the left are sketches of the pandas at the zoo at that time.

Historic Images of the Smithsonian
Office of Education at the National Zoo sponsored workshops to bring animals to man's attention through art. Sketch materials were furnished and noted local artists volunteered as teachers to both novice and more experienced sketchers. (Washington Post, 12/15/1977)
