Summary

The Smithsonian Center for Latino Initiatives, established in 1997, is renamed the Smithsonian Latino Center. The Center's mandate is to foster understanding and appreciation of the contributions made by Latinos to history, society, and culture through programs, exhibitions, collections and public outreach.
