Summary

Mr. Thomas W. Smillie and his photographic apparatus are transferred from the Laboratory of Natural History to the southeastern pavilion of the National Museum Building. According to George Brown Goode's outline of organization of the National Museum in the 1883 Annual Report (p. 164), photography comes under the Department of Preparation in the Division of Administration, under the Assistant Director of the Museum.
