Summary

Act establishes a National Museum of African American History and Culture, as part of the Smithsonian Institution, dedicated to "the collection, preservation, research, and exhibition of African American historical and cultural materials reflecting the breadth and depth of the experiences of individuals of African descent living inthe United States." Its programs shall encompass the period of slavery, era of Reconstruction, Harlem renaissance, civil rights movement, and other periods of the African American diaspora.
