A large group of people have gathered to watch the unloading of a crate containing a painting by Jasper Johns at the XXXII Venice Biennial, Venice, Italy. The National Museum of American Art, Office of Program Support, sent work to International Exhibitions. The U.S. Information Agency organized and circulated art exhibitions abroad and, in the years immediately preceding 1965, supported American participation in international art shows. Johns was an American painter whose paintings often were of maps, flags and targets.
