Summary

Janet W. Solinger departs from the Smithsonian and accepts a position at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Solinger served as director of the Smithsonian Resident Associates Program from July 1972 to December 1992. In 1993 she served as director of Special Projects, Office of the Assistant Secretary for External Affairs, assisting with preparations for the Smithsonian's 150th anniversary in 1996. Solinger oversaw the expansion of the Smithsonian's continuing education program from 7,500 members in 1972 to 75,000 in 1992, a tenfold increase.
