Summary

Alvin Rosenfeld was appointed deputy director of the Office of Public Affairs in 1978, and director in 1979. Prior to joining the staff of the Smithsonian, Rosenfeld worked as a journalist for the United Press, 1940-1945, New York Post, 1946-1950, NBC, 1950-1973, and the Washington Post, 1973-1978. He retired from the Smithsonian in 1986, and was appointed vice-director of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
