  • Biography: Patricia Q. (Patty) Stonesifer of Washington was the chief executive officer of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the nation's largest philanthropic organization from January 2006 to January 2008. She previously worked at Microsoft Corp. from 1988-1997, including serving as senior vice president, where she launched its cable TV and Internet news ventures, MSNBC and MSN. Ms. Stonesifer has served as a member of the U.S. delegation to the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on HIV/AIDS and currently is on the boards of DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade, Africa), Amazon.com, and The Seattle Foundation.
