Summary

Smithsonian Council is formed to provide outside review of Smithsonian programs and to "advise the Secretary on broad programmatic activities and to offer guidance on Smithsonian contributions to research and public understanding in science, history and art." It is approved by the Smithsonian Board of Regents at the 27 January 1966 meeting.
