Teone Vahini, Mrs. Pito, making "popoi". A Polynesian, Teone was one of the persons the Clarkes met while living for 3 months on Rapa Island while collecting natural history specimens in 1963. J. F. Gates (John Frederick Gates) Clarke, 1905-1990, was curator of Lepidoptera at the National Museum of National History.
