Buildings visible in the picture include the Freer Gallery of Art (FGA), the Smithsonian Institution Building (SIB) or "Castle", the South Shed, the Air and Space Building (in a temporary metal building), the Arts and Industries Building (A&I) with two rockets along the west side, the Army Medical Museum, the temporary government buildings built during World War II, the United States Botanic Garden, the Sam Rayburn House Office Building, the United States Capitol Building, the Library of Congress, the Supreme Court, and the Robert F. Kennedy Stadium. On the south side of Independence Avenue and across from the Army Medical Museum is the Federal Aviation Administration Building.
