Preliminary plans by Adolf Cluss and Frederick Daniel for the exterior of the proposed United States National Museum, now known as the Arts and Industries Building, dated January 1877. Cluss and Daniel were business partners from 1876 to 1878. They submitted plans for the Smithsonian Institution Building Annex in 1876 as well as early plans for the A&I Building.
