First Ladies Exhibit reinstalled in the West North Range of the Arts and Industries Building on May 24, 1955. The basis of this setting is the Blue Room of the White House as it looked at the time of the Grant Administration. The case contains the dresses of Julia Dent Grant; Lucy Webb Hayes, Lucretia Rudolph Garfield, Mary Arthur McElroy, sister of President Chester Arthur, and Caroline Scott Harrison and Mary Harrison McKee, who represented the administration of President Benjamin Harrison. A portrait of Grant hangs above the mantle.
