Summary

Three employees, one standing and two seated, at work in the International Exchange Service room in the East Range basement of the south side of the Smithsonian Institution Building. The three men are probably George Mace, Mr. Bollman, and M. A. Tolson. Established in 1848, the International Exchange Service, administered by the Smithsonian Institution, disseminated scientific publications to scholarly institutions both in the United States and abroad.
