Summary

Secretary Emeritus S. Dillon Ripley and his wife, Mary Livingston Ripley, review the first book purchases made with funds from the S. Dillon Ripley Library Endowment. The Smithsonian Institution Libraries' S. Dillon Ripley Library Endowment, established in September 1993, has raised more than $250,000 through contributions from friends and colleagues of Secretary Emeritus Ripley. The endowment provides SIL with funds for the acquisition of library materials to support the research and program efforts of curators and staff throughout the institution.
