Summary

Director of the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) Frank Talbot is pictured with a favorite sculpture, an elephant seal. Talbot's interest in the natural world dates to his youth in Capetown, South Africa. From an early age, he loved to fish. Later, as a university student, Talbot began studies of the ecology of deep-sea and coral reef fishes, an interest that has continued through his professional life. He has a master's degree in marine zoology and a doctorate in marine ecology.
