Summary

Construction work of the Smithsonian Institution's $73.2 million underground complex on the Quad which includes the National Museum of African Art (NMAfA), the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery (AMSG), and a circular kiosk to the S. Dillon Ripley International Center. The steel structure for the buildings is being erected in the excavated pit. The Smithsonian Institution Building (SIB), or "Castle," is in the background.
