Construction work of the Smithsonian's $73.2 million complex on the Quad which includes the National Museum of African Art (NMAfA), the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery (AMSG), and a circular kiosk. The kiosk, which provides public access to the S. Dillon Ripley International Center on the third and deepest level of the complex, is shown in the foreground. The steel bundles will be encased first in concrete and then in limestone to form columns for the copper-domed structure, located between the Smithsonian Institution Building (SIB), the "Castle," and the Freer Gallery of Art (FGA).
