Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of event listings from across the Smithsonian Institution as they were published online. The entries have been exported in XML format from the same database which generates the online calendar of events. Due to limitations in the number of entries that may be exported, two types of XML files have been generated. The first type includes quarterly captures of one-time events only. The second includes all events - both one-time and recurring - up to 1,000 events, captured approximately twice per month. Not every instance of a recurring event may be documented in the files. The Smithsonian Institution closed to the public beginning in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic but continued to conduct virtual events. In-person events did not begin again until the summer of 2021 or later, depending on the location. Due to technical issues associated with the transition to remote work, some March and April events may not have been captured or may not reflect the final status of the event. Materials are in digital format.
