Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of records created and maintained by Valerie Neal, Curator, documenting the development, production, maintenance, and upgrade of National Air and Space Museum (NASM) exhibitions. Topics covered include "Space Race," "Where Next, Columbus?," "Moving Beyond Earth," and other related exhibitions, including collaborations with the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Materials include correspondence, reports, memoranda, proposals, contracts and agreements, notes, meeting minutes, schedules, scripts, floor plans, newsletters, labels, charts, documents, photographs, negatives, transparencies, slides, agendas, drawings, transcripts, brochures, budget summaries, fundraising, pamphlets, illustrations, lists, clippings, visitor comments, gallery plans, worksheets, and related materials. Some records date to when the department was known as the Department of Space Science and Exploration (1980-1986), the Department of Space History (1987-1996), and the Space History Division (1997-2013). Some records originated from other organizations at earlier dates and provide more context. Some materials are in electronic format.
