This accession consists of records that document the collections management policies, collection acquisitions, collections storage, and collections deaccessioning during the tenures of Thomas M. Beggs, 1948-1964; David W. Scott, 1965-1969; Robert Tyler Davis (Interim), 1969; Joshua Charles Taylor, 1970-1981; Harry Lowe (Acting), 1981-1982; Charles C. Eldredge, 1982-1988; and Elizabeth Broun, 1989-2016. Some materials date to when the museum was known as the National Collection of Fine Arts and the National Museum of American Art. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, object lists, news releases, policies, agreements, images, brochures, and clippings.
