Summary

This accession consists of notebooks created and maintained by Robert Horton during his tenure as Chair of the Archives Center from 2015-2021. Shortly after joining the Smithsonian, Horton took on the additional role of Assistant Director for Collections and Archives in 2016. As Chair, Horton was responsible for guiding the work of the Archives Center in identifying, acquiring, and preserving archival records which document America's history and its diverse cultures. The notebooks contain notes taken by Horton during meetings, presentations, conferences, symposia, or planning sessions. Also, some documents have been inserted into some of the notebooks and there is a notebook documenting Horton's work with the Society of American Archivists.
