This accession consists of records created and maintained by Joanna Marsh, Curator of Contemporary Art, which document her work in researching, developing, fundraising, publicizing, producing, and executing exhibits at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Exhibits documented include Celebrating the Lucelia Artist Award, 2001-2006; Color as Field: American Painting, 1950-1975; Local Color: Washington Painting at Mid-Century; Jean Shin: Common Threads; The Singing and the Silence: Birds in Contemporary Art; and Alexis Rockman: A Fable for Tomorrow. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, exhibit text, object lists, meeting agendas and minutes, press releases, contracts, reports, proposals, images, drawings, brochures, and clippings. Some materials are in digital format.
