This accession consists of records documenting topics internal to the National Air and Space Museum (NASM). The bulk of the records pertain to the planning and promotion of the Dulles Center (later to be officially named the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center). Other topics include collections, exhibitions, and films. These records were created and maintained during the tenures of Michael Collins, 1971-1978; Melvin B. Zisfein (Acting), 1978-1979; Noel W. Hinners, 1979-1982; Walter J. Boyne, 1982-1986; Donald S. Lopez (Acting), 1986, 1995, and 1999; James C. Tyler (Acting), 1986-1987; Martin Harwit, 1987-1995; Donald Davenport Engen, 1996-1999; and John R. Dailey, 2000-2018. Materials include presentations consisting of slides and occasionally talking points; a press packet; a film proposal; a book; commemorative photographs; and ceremonial pens.
