This accession consists of posts on the microblog Twitter, known as tweets, using the hashtag #SmithsonianOpenAccess. This hashtag was used by museums and other units throughout the Smithsonian Institution to promote the launch of its open access collections. Tweets using this hashtag were exported into two formats between February 25 and June 1, 2020. The results from a search of Twitter on the hashtag were crawled on March 5, 2020, and an additional capture of the hashtag search result occurred on May 1, 2020. Due to technical issues, some tweets may be missing and some embedded media may not function properly. Materials are in electronic format.
