  • The Office of Investments was created in 2006. The office is responsible for managing the Smithsonian Institution's diversified multi-asset investment endowment and is charged with the growth, safety, and integrity of the Institution's financial assets. Prior to the creation of the office, the endowment was managed by the Office of the Treasurer.
  • Amy Chen was appointed the Chief Investment Officer in 2006. A graduate of Oberlin College and Cornell University, Chen came to the Smithsonian from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
