This accession consists of approximately 4,500 email messages of William E. Baxter, an employee of the Smithsonian Libraries (previously the Smithsonian Institution Libraries), 1995-2020. These records document Baxter's tenure as Head of the History and Culture Department, 2010-2019, and as Assistant Director, Collections Services, 2019-2020. A few weeks before his retirement, the Smithsonian Libraries officially integrated with the Smithsonian Institution Archives to become the Smithsonian Libraries and Archives.
