This accession consists of the email account of Linda S. Edquist, Conservator and Head of Preservation at the National Postal Museum (NPM). As Head of Preservation, Edquist was responsible for managing conservation projects, staff, and exhibitions at the museum. At NPM from 1993-2018, Edquist started her career at the Smithsonian Institution as a conservation technician at the National Museum of American History from 1989-1993. Edquist's email account consists of approximately 12,576 messages and covers the time period of February 2002 to March 2018. The correspondence documents Edquist's work managing the care of the museums' objects onsite, on exhibition, on loan, and in collections storage; overseeing the conservation laboratory and conservation staff; coordinating the exhibition installation of museum objects at NPM and other museums; consulting on preservation related issues within the Smithsonian Institution, related museum professional groups, and the general public; and providing educational outreach through presentations, workshops, and publications.
