This accession consists of the email account of Rex M. Ellis, Associate Director for Curatorial Affairs at the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC). As Associate Director Ellis was responsible for the planning, developing, direction, and management of all curatorial, educational, and outreach programs and activities for the museum. Prior to being at NMAAHC, Ellis was the Vice President for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation where he managed its programs and operations. Ellis received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Masters in Fine Arts from Wayne State University, a Masters of Divinity from Virginia Union University, and an Ed.D from the College of William and Mary.Ellis' email account consists of approximately 23,703 messages and covers the time period of November 2008 to May 2019. The correspondence documents Ellis' work on research, exhibitions, collections acquisitions, public programs, and other related areas. Materials are in electronic format.
